I’m here for a few days and I think I’ve seen more AMG and M badges than I do in a month in Chicago or LA.

That’s because they’re all stolen from other cities

Atlanta has lots of rich people with good taste. I don’t even notice Maseratis, G Wagens, 911s, or Teslas anymore.

It is 5 series and E class sedans are very common, I think it has to do with the Mercedes and BMW off lease auction house that is here. Pretty much every leased luxury sedan on the east coast goes through Atlanta

Southern cities in general are full of fancy cars. I alwayd chalked it up to not having to spend a million dollars on a 3-bedroom house...that leaves a lot of disposable income.

Plus we have an arms race for conspicuous consumption. Atlanta is just one of the worst offenders because people spend so much time in their cars, they might as well be houses.

but are they legitimate AMG and M cars or just badges stuck on C300s and 535is?

It’s all those Coke dealers.

Mercedes and Porsche headquarters are here. What surprises me though is the number Bentley Bentagas in this city. Talk about driving a house (They start at $230k). And most of them are driven by soccer moms, so I can’t help but imagine what the husband drives.

I was in Atlanta last summer and saw three different Rolls-Royce Wraiths on ONE block in Buckhead.

MB moved their HQ to Atlanta for some reason, Porsche is there too and BMW has operations not far away. Not a bad place for car spotting, and the cars probably fare well on the sparkling smooth granite roads.

No, just no.

Los Angeles is likely the top here (particularly Orange County and today’s SGV, but also closer to downtown), but it could also be San Francisco (especially Marin) or the Bellevue-Redmond area of WA (probably the highest concentration of exotic cars used as dailies anywhere outside the hills northwest of Los Angeles). Vancouver BC should also get special mention, as it might beat all of the above.

There are probably high concentrations in some areas in the Northeast as well (I’d suspect a very high concentration in southern CT and Long Island, for example).

But are they M or AMG versions?

A lot of them are, there are just more here because local dealers don’t have to pay much for transportation and a lot are auctioned here. True story my father bought a 335i Gran Turismo from a dealer in Philly he lives in Atlanta, It was BMW corporate car in NJ, it went through the auction in Atlanta then up to Philly where he bought it and drove it back to Atlanta.

My f10 535i Manual was originally sold in Long island, NY then went through the Atlanta Auction then Bought by a local Toyota Dealer Where I bought it.

So, I hate to break this to you, but the only thing even slightly unique about your F10 is that it’s a manual. Otherwise, it’s the late model Toyota Camry of cars where I live: ubiquitous, ignored, and usually leased.

I wouldn’t even notice your dad’s car. Like completely ignore. It’s a late-model Toyota Corolla S to us, they’re that typical.

It sounds like Atlanta is where used premium/luxury cars go when they’ve served their purposes in places where they were treated like normal cars...

You are right they are like camrys here, I pointed out my and my Faather’s car because they are not not common models by long shot it shows the volume of cars going through the Atlanta options. And yes the 335 GT is very rare,

I think so. They have the more aggressive fenders, grills and side badges too.

Great for spotting high end late model cars. It doesn’t seem be like LA where you see those plus guys daily driving Triumphs.

Good point. Cars don’t age well in the southeast.
